When setting up Feather & Foxglove I wanted to be a florist with a twist, creating not just beautiful bouquets but a range of hand crafted fresh fragrant natural gifts.
When initially experimenting with the idea I knew I wanted to only use natural environmentally friendly ingredients in all of our products. Especially in recent years we are all becoming more mindful of the environmental credentials of the products we are purchasing.
So what are the benefits of the soy candles and wax melts?
They are a natural product
Soy wax is a vegetable wax made from the oil of soybeans. Our wax comes from crops that have the credentials of entirely natural product that's safe for your skin and respiratory system.
Better for the environment
Soy is a renewable source unlike paraffin wax which relies in our dwindling supply of crude oil.
Soy wax is a carbon neutral product, meaning you can enjoy your candle and wax melts knowing they have not had a negative impact on the environment.
Longer burn
Soy wax burns on average 40-50% slower than paraffin wax, resulting in long-lasting candles and wax melts and giving you better value for money. Our 200ml tin candles can burn up to 40 hrs allowing you to enjoy your favourite fragrance time and time again, remember that due to the slower burn allow the first burn to be a couple of hours to burn through the top layer this will ensure your candle will have a even burn each time and avoid tunnelling.
Cleaner
Soy washes away with warm soapy water making it easy to repurpose your vessel once the candle has burned down (Our candles come in stylish but also recyclable tins perfect storing what you ever like!) No more soaking with boiling water and chipping away at residual wax. When it comes to wax melts our top tip for cleaning your wax burner is to melt the wax as usual in the burner, blow out the tea light (or turn off the electric if using an electric burner) and use a cotton pad to soak up the liquid wax!
Soy wax is clean burning and doesn't release toxins, carcinogens or pollutants which means it's less likely to trigger allergies.
Soy wax won't release petrol-carbon soot like you get from paraffin candles meaning no oily black marks on your walls! Keeping the wick trimmed short will also ensure that the candle doesn't smoke and that it burns efficiently.
Better even scent
A Soy Wax Candles and wax melts will release the scent slowly over a longer time compared to paraffin wax. What happens is the Soy Wax holds onto the fragrance and ensures an even release of the chosen aroma.
